телевидение высокой чёткости ( HDTV) и графические приложения ПК требуют сложной обработки синхросигналов, включающей выделение пиксельной тактовой частоты (pixel rate clock) из аналоговых сигналов, разделение информации горизонтальной и вертикальной развёртки, обнаружение полей, или полукадров (field detection), предотвращение срыва синхронизации (например, при отсутствии сигналов горизонтальной развёртки, обычно между кадрами) и т. д.
